Finding time to step away from work, routines, and responsibilities can feel impossible. That’s why my husband and I carved out a weekend for a quick reset at The Omni Grove Park Inn & Spa in Asheville, North Carolina—nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This historic escape blends old-world charm with the kind of natural beauty that makes you exhale. If you’re dreaming about your next couple’s getaway, here’s a look at what made ours feel restorative and romantic.

Arriving in Asheville: History With a View

Built in 1913, the Inn’s Arts and Crafts architecture—red tile roof, massive stonework, and sprawling grounds—sets a calm, timeless tone the moment you arrive. We booked a Corner Panoramic room, and the views did not disappoint. Large windows showcased the mountains, the golf course, and a peek at the spa below. Mornings became a calming ritual: coffee in plush robes, taking in the gorgeous mountain views. The room felt spacious and serene, a quiet perch that made it easy to slow down and be present.

Spa Time: A Couple’s Retreat That Delivers

If you plan a visit, make time for the spa. We chose the Couple’s Retreat Massage, and it was the highlight of our stay. In a peaceful, softly lit suite, two expert therapists worked in sync to melt away every knot and ounce of stress. It felt intimate without being fussy—just deeply relaxing. We followed it with the Relaxation Whirlpool Bath, with chilled Prosecco and decadent truffles.

Our treatment left us feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, as we moved on to the indoor mineral pools and hot tubs. The rock surroundings and sky lights made for a magical experience. Floating in the mineral pool listening to the soothing underwater music was truly blissful. We alternated between the pool and the waterfall hot tubs, which feature 200-gallon-per-minute waterfalls that provide an incredible massage effect. We returned to our room relaxed, rejuvenated, and ready for dinner.

Dinner Plans: Two Evenings, Two Vibes

Vue 1913:

Our first night was all elegance—panoramic windows, piano music, and an incredible menu that delivered on flavor. We started our meal with a seared tuna appetizer with citrus crema and garlic chips. I chose the 24-hour beef short ribs served with bitter greens, au jus, and creamy polenta topped with apricot mostarda. My husband went with the filet mignon with whipped potatoes, asparagus, served with red wine demi-glace. We added a side of the chef’s blend of mushrooms to share with our meal. The food was terrific, and the experience was refined without being stuffy, ideal for lingering over conversation.

Edison’s on the Terrace:

Night two, we wanted something relaxed. Under string lights with the golf course as our backdrop, we enjoyed delicious smash burgers, French fries, and draft beer. Edison’s offers a fun sports bar/pub vibe. The menu has plenty for different dietary needs—gluten-free, plant-forward, and more—so everyone’s covered.

Evenings in the Great Hall: Fireside and Unplugged

We kept finding our way back to the Great Hall, the heart of the resort, with soaring stone fireplaces and cozy seating. We settled into rocking chairs with cocktails—my favorite is the Aperol Spritz, while my husband enjoyed a Gin & Tonic—and we just talked. No phones, no deadlines, just time to catch up. It’s incredible what a crackling fire can do for a conversation.

The Omni Grove Park Inn & Spa is a unique historical experience that reminds you to breathe, connect, and enjoy the beauty around you. Whether you’re plotting a romantic weekend, a solo recharge, or a friends’ trip, it strikes that sweet spot between luxurious elegance and nature.
